Bank of New Zealand Farm Business Writing Award 2008
Applications are now open for the 2008 Bank of New Zealand Farm Agribusiness Writing Award.  The award has been established by the New Zealand Guild of Agricultural Journalists and Communicators and sponsored by the Bank of New Zealand to recognise high quality writing about farm business.

The topic of Farm Business encompasses management and leadership practices relating to farming including (but not limited to) planning, leading people and financial management, as differentiated from technical management (stock and pasture management etc).

The Award will be made to the agricultural journalist whose work is selected as the best by the panel of two judges.

The entry is to be made up of TWO articles, features or programmes, in any medium, published in 12 months to July 31 2008.

This award is open to any New Zealand-based journalist and is not restricted to NZGAJC members.   However, an entry fee of $25 is required for non-members.

The Award can be made to a group or team. If a team wins the Award, it is to be shared between those named on the entry form. Only one entry per person, unless also part of a team entry.

The Award will be judged on the overall quality of writing, how interest is captured and complexity explained, and also on the choice and relevance of any supporting information In particular, the readers have to be informed about what makes this farm tick, and what makes it a success for the owners.   The judges will not consider aspects out of control of the entrants, e.g. layout, headlines and other display problems. Entrants must however make clear on the entry form which aspects of the submission were beyond their control.

The winner will receive $1000. The prize will be presented at the Guild Awards Dinner in Wellington on 18 October 2008.

Please provide THREE copies of all written or audio/video/cd/dvd material. Print portfolios should be A4 size.  Attach a copy of the entry form to the copies of your entry.
