AGMARDT AGRIBUSINESS AWARD 2008 Applications are now open for the 2008 AGMARDT Agribusiness Award.
This award was established by the New Zealand Guild of Agricultural Journalists and Communicators and is sponsored by AGMARDT. It recognises high quality information about and effective analysis of national, global and other external agribusinesstopics.factors that impact on individual farm businesses. For example, global trade issues, rural industry trends and issues including industry reform, the activities of organisations servicing the rural sector, etc.
Any New Zealand-based journalist or communicator is eligible to enter the award. You can only put in one entry per person, unless part of another shared entry. Entries must be of TWO articles, columns, programmes or presentations in any medium. If a presentation is entered, supporting material such as power point slides or speech notes must be provided.
Entries must have been published, broadcast or delivered in the 12 months to July 31 2008. The Award can be made to a group or team. If a team wins the Award, it is to be shared between those named on the entry form.
The Award will be judged on the overall quality of writing, how interest is captured and complexity explained, and also on the choice and relevance of any supporting information. In particular, readers have to be informed by what they read, and develop an understanding of the role agribusiness plays in New Zealand’s economy.
The judges will not consider aspects out of control of the entrants e.g. layout, headlines and other display problems. Entrants must however make clear on the entry form which aspects of the submission were beyond their control.
The winner will receive $1000. Judging will be in September and the prize awarded at the Guild Awards Dinner in Wellington on 18 October 2008. Where necessary, the costs for the winner to travel to the AGM will be paid.
THREE copies of the entry must be submitted, with three copies of the entry form and three named A4 pages giving background details. You can only put in one entry per person, unless part of another shared entry.
